Title of Lecture:

Evolution and Impact of Automation: Transforming Industries and Beyond


Speaker's short profile:


Chiranjib Bhowmik has 28 years of rich experience in thermal power plant management. He spearheaded diverse roles in automation industries encompassing: Specification Preparation, Technology and Manufacturer Evaluation, Basic Design and Commissioning, Process Stabilization and Commercial Operations and Plant Operation and Maintenance. He played pivotal roles in the successful management of 3X250MW BBGS (CESC), 2X300MW Chandrapur TPS (DIL), 2X300MW Haldia TPS (HEL). He has collaborated with major thermal power plant designers including ABB-ABL, Siemens, BHEL, Shanghai Electric. During his leadership in automation industries, he has extensive involvement with leaders like Invensys, Rockwell, Emersion, Honeywell, Yokogawa, GE.


Chiranjib received his B.Sc. (Honours) and B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering from University of Calcutta. 



Title of Lecture: Electric Vehicles: The future of transportation 


Speaker's short profile:


Dibyendu Datta has decades of experience in engineering and various roles both in Europe and India. He started off his career as Instrumentation Engineer for a Chemical plant in Haldia. After that he moved over to ABB and was responsible for DCS implementations in Petrochemical Industries. He was the first person from ABB India to implement and commission ABB Advant System (which was launched globally at that time) with Advanced Process Control. Gradually he migrated over to Customer Business Management of Engineering and Enterprise IT Services Organizations. From 2003 onwards he has been handling some of the leading Blue-Chip Global customers especially the Automotive industry being one of his focus areas. 

Professionally he has worked in quite a few big names in the Industry like ABB, BOSCH, WIPRO, MphasiS, Tech Mahindra. Currently he is working for Tech Mahindra and heads New Business for Automotive and Discrete Manufacturing for Germany and Austria.  

He is currently located in Frankfurt, Germany. Dibyendu passed out with B.Tech. in 1992 with specialization in Instrumentation and Control from University of Calcutta.



Title of Lecture: Application of Artificial Intelligence in Education 


Speaker's short profile:


Professor Majumdar retired as Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He has served as the Dean of faculty and Planning; as well as the Deputy Director of IIT Kharagpur. He obtained PhD degrees from the University of Calcutta and also from University of Florida, Gainesville, USA. His research interests include database sand knowledge based systems, artificial Intelligence, computer security and multimedia systems. He has published more than two hundred research papers in reputed international journals andconferences. He is a senior member of the IEEE. Current area of interest is AI and Neural Computing. At present associated with JIS Institute of Advanced Studies and Research as Emeritus Professor. 

He is an alumnus of Applied Physics Department, University of Calcutta.



Title of Lecture: Advancement in Wireless Communication –Technology and Use cases 


Speaker's short profile:

Mr. Chakraborty is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers and Secretary of Kolkata Chapter of International Society for Automation (ISA), USA. He has 37+ years of experience in Telecom and IT. He has worked in different capacities in NTPC, BSNL (erstwhile DOT) as ITS (Indian Telecom Service) Group A officer. Later on, he acted as Chief Technology Officer in Aircel, Uninor and Reliance Jio. He has Rolled out Metro Network and the entire East Zone green field Mobile network (2G,3G and 4G) for four operators including Reliance JIO. Trained thousands of Engineers in 4G and 5G PAN India basis. He is having wide experience in Planning, Design, Procurement, Installation and maintenance in all fields of Telecom- Switch, Microwave, Optical Fibre, Satellite Communication, Mobility, Broadband, IT enabled services. 

Mr. Chakraborty holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecom from Jadavpur University and an MBA from IMT, Ghaziabad. 



Title of Lecture: Digital Twins for Plant Lifecycle Automation


Speaker's short profile:


Ranjan has more than 4 decades of  experience, including various leadership roles for 27 years in several multi-million dollar mega projects and programmes in GAIL. Those include multiple Projects (involving all branches of engineering) management, large process plant construction and commissioning. He pioneered the development of 10 years Strategy and implementation charter documents for GAIL through Scenario Planning exercise in India. He also lead an organisation wide 360⁰ Change Management programme. Also had P&L responsibility of GAIL's Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh businesses, during his tenure.

After his retirement from GAIL in 2011, he established his Consulting firm DToSS Consulting, and advised globally reputed companies in Energy and infrastructure segments.


Ranjan completed his B.Tech. in 1973 and M.Tech. in 1975  in the Instrumentation discipline from the Department of Applied Physics, Calcutta University.
